Unitrunk Supports New BEAMA Guidance on Cable Management Fire Safety
Unitrunk is proud to support the latest industry guidance developed by the BEAMA Cable Management Technical Committee, focused on improving fire safety and helping to prevent the premature collapse of wiring systems.
The new guidance provides recommendations for the design, installation and inspection of cable management systems, helping industry professionals ensure that electrical installations remain safe and secure throughout their service life.
As an active member of the BEAMA Cable Management Group, Unitrunk is committed to working collaboratively with technical experts across the industry to help shape product standards, guidance and best practice.
The BEAMA Premature Collapse test assesses the ability of cable management systems to remain securely supported during a fire. Tested at temperatures of up to 650°C, its purpose is to ensure cable management systems do not collapse prematurely, helping to keep escape routes clear and maintain safe access for emergency service personnel during firefighting and rescue operations.
“Fire safety is a fundamental consideration in the design and specification of cable management systems. Unitrunk is proud to have played a role in developing this guidance and to be the first cable management manufacturer to achieve a fire safety rating across the Unitrunk product range. This demonstrates our commitment to providing products that not only deliver performance and reliability, but also support safer electrical installations.”
— Dominic O’Hara, Group Technical Manager
The new guidance highlights the importance of considering fire performance throughout the lifecycle of a cable management system — from initial specification and design through to installation and ongoing inspection.
For Unitrunk, this aligns closely with our own commitment to electrical safety, product performance and continuous improvement. We believe manufacturers have an important role to play in raising standards across the industry and ensuring specifiers and installers have access to the information they need to make informed decisions.
Our involvement with BEAMA allows us to share our technical expertise, collaborate with industry peers and contribute to the development of guidance that can make a genuine difference to electrical safety.
As the industry continues to evolve, Unitrunk remains committed to innovation, compliance and safety – helping to build better, safer electrical installations for the future.
