UNITRUNK ANNOUNCES NEW COMMERCIAL LEAD APPOINTMENT FOR WOLVERHAMPTON
Unitrunk, the Rapid Installation Systems (RIS) cable management specialist, has appointed Phil Wakelam as the company’s new commercial lead for its Wolverhampton depot.
A former business development manager for the Midlands, Phil has been part of the Unitrunk team for more than seven years. His promotion to the new role of commercial lead for the Wolverhampton depot has been designed to leverage his experience of the Unitrunk range and local market knowledge. It forms part of Unitrunk’s strategic move to introduce an additional layer of customer service within the team at each depot to ensure rapid response times for wholesalers and contractors, along with high levels of specification support.
Phil’s new role will draw on both his experience and his contacts. Joining up the sales process by connecting the field sales and depot sales teams, Phil will liaise personally with the contractor and look for opportunities to improve the specification and save time on site. He will also be involved in advising contractors, specifiers and wholesalers on a best fit approach, ensuring the benefits of Unitrunk’s RIS (rapid installation systems) cable management are exploited to their full potential on site.
Commenting on his promotion, Phil said: “After seven years with Unitrunk, I know first-hand the challenges that contractors face in the marketplace and being able to respond quickly to enquiries and ensure faster project delivery for increasingly tight deadlines are key pressure points.
“At Unitrunk, we only sell our cable management systems through the wholesale channel and often time pressures mean that the contractor/wholesaler relationship is very much on a transaction basis. My new role is to add value to that relationship by becoming an interface that connects the two, helping to generate sales opportunities for the wholesaler while ensuring that the contractor has the right product in the right location at the right time.”
Unitrunk’s commercial manager, Martin Gregg adds: “We have never sold Unitrunk cable management systems on a commodity basis because they have been innovatively designed to help contractors save time on site. The appointment of our commercial leads will help us to fully articulate that point of difference during the sales process and ensure that contractors, specifiers and wholesalers have an expert point of contact to assist with any technical or pricing queries.”
